Poker manners

There are certain behavioral guidelines that you must follow in playing poker. Here are some:

You should always give your full attention to the game. If something's bothering you and you cannot give your undivided attention, then, leave the poker table. You do not want another player always asking if it is his turn yet, do you? So you should avoid doing the same by putting your head in the game. It is also rude and insulting to do this because it shows that you do not need to be really serious to beat others. That is just plain conceited.

Stack your chips nicely. If you want to appear like a hotshot by slamming your chips to the pot, the truth is, you just look stupid. Every good poker player plays in consideration with the others.

You should always wait for your turn to act. You should check or call or raise or fold when it is only your turn. In poker, this is vital because you do not want to give away clues as to what you are doing next because you will help others to decide. If you are planning to act not in your turn to intimidate, think twice. This is found to be rude, and others might want you evicted from the poker table.

On the other hand, in online poker, you can act even if it's not your turn yet because other players could not see your action until it is your turn. Do this by clicking on the action buttons which are found in the poker table, while others are still in their turn.

You should not coach other poker players while still in the game. Nobody should give you advice when it's your turn, so you shouldn't give them advices too. Do not give them advices and then take the credit away from them when they win. Let them win and lose by themselves.

Keep quiet. Keep your comments to yourself while the game is ongoing, however much great you think your comments are. You should keep your silence even if you have already folded. If you think you can fool others by making them believe that you are good poker player by the way you talk, think again. An empty barrel makes a lot of noise. Do you want to be remembered as the poker player who talks a lot or the one who wins a lot?
